A light-hearted garden sculpture of ... "Apollo Flaying Marsyas." By Antonio Corradini, Victoria and Albert Museum, London. Apparently Marsyas lost a musical contest, and Apollo was upset enough to flay him alive. Just exactly what you'd want in the centre of your garden party.
Poor light, a high pedestal, and proximity to a door letting in blazing daylight (less of a blessing than you might imagine) made this an extraordinarily difficult to photograph item. This is a poor picture (can you tell Apollo is cutting into Marsyas' leg?) but was quite ... memorable in my visit and so it's included here.
