Glass

Glass has been important in Venice for centuries. The arts have always been important there, and the island of Murano became the center for making glass in Europe. It's still an important draw for tourists. The guidebook we had warned that much of the glass sold in Venice isn't actually made locally. Local glass is expensive. I found the glass we saw to be well crafted but garish.
