To say that "the El Mocambo had a lot of big acts" severely underestimates the importance of that particular venue. It's legendary, and the list of acts that have played there is epic. But I think it takes someone of my generation to remember what a freakin' dive it was - I went there once or twice, but I was actually kind of scared of the place. It's beautiful now, after its very expensive renovation (re-opened in 2021). I'm really glad it continues to be a music venue.
