This is one of the many magnificent stone floors we saw in churches in Venice. This isn't even the most impressive of them: the two best examples were the San Marco Basilica, and Santi Maria e Donato (on Murano) which the Basilica appears to imitate. These had mosaic floors that were breath-taking. Photography was banned in both churches, so no pictures.
